The second seminar on "Thematic Talks on Architecture and Urbanism-TARU" is on the 24th of March 2023, Friday at 10:00, and will be given by Ar. Sheetal Amraotkar. Ar. Sheetal Amraotkar has 18 years of Professional experience, She is a LEED Accredited Professional and holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. After finishing her M.Arch in 2003 she went into architectural practice and did several landscape design projects during her tenure, she worked in the field of Landscape Design, Sustainable Architecture Design, and completed numerous LEED Certified projects in Dar Al Handasah while working for 9 years. She has also been a LEED Consultant for many more projects in the company. At Delhi Development Authority she was appointed as Landscape Architect Consultant for the renowned Aasthakunj park which was built on a landfill and became an important public open space for the citizens. She has coordinated with various International companies like Perkins and Will and SWA for the projects and attended numerous workshops abroad in countries like Angola, Jordan, Cairo, and Beirut. She joined Sathyabama Institute in 2019 as an Associate Professor and has been handling Masters Sustainable Architecture Program as the main Coordinator. She has handled practical subjects like Sustainable Design studio, Masters Sustainable Architecture Thesis, Dissertation, and Professional Training. Theory subjects handled are Green building rating system, Climate and Building physics, Sustainable Landscape Planning, and design. Her contributions in academics include improving the Masters in Sustainable Architecture syllabus for 2021-2022, conducting workshops, and Faculty Training Programs, and has successfully mentored students as lead faculty to win the International competition of the U.S. Solar Decathlon as well as in India. Recently she organized and conducted International Conference on Sustainable design, planning, and management in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. with her research topic falling under the broader category of Sustainable Landscape Planning.
