EMU GRADUATE ALIHAN KESKIN SIGNED THE RESTORATION OF THE DOME-I HADRA, KNOWN AS UNIQUE IN THE WORLD

A graduate of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Dr. Alihan Keskin is frequently mentioned with the construction activities carried out in Turkey and while it is ongoing. Keskin, especially between 2011-2023, served as the Construction Manager in the restoration projects of old works belonging to official institutions in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. Keskin, who took part in the restoration project of the Hazreti Mevlana Tomb, managed the restoration process of the Dome-i Hadra, which is unique in the world, between 2020-2024.      

He Pioneered the Protection of a Unique Architectural Work
The construction of the Dome of Hadra, which began in 1274 and is unique in the world with its colorful Turkish tiles, was included in the general summaries of the project in which Dr. Keskin took part in 2020. Keskin personally managed the restoration works of the said work, including the renewal of the tomb tiles, the design of the wooden interior scaffolding and its protection. The wooden interior scaffolding designed by Dr. Keskin was registered by the TMMOB Chamber of Architects Konya Branch and was deemed worthy of being exhibited in national architecture exhibitions.

He Signed Scientific Studies and Academic Publications
Keskin made significant contributions to the recovery process of the Dome of Hadra not only as an architect but also as an academic researcher. The techniques used during the restoration and the research conducted on the techniques were presented at international symposiums and included in prestigious publications. Dr. Keskin, who carried out scientific studies on many subjects from the testing process of the adhesives used in the renewal of the tiles of the Dome of Hadra to the design of the wooden interior scaffolding, Keskin recorded every stage of the restoration process.
